The Weingut Salzl Seewinkelhof is located in Illmitz, in the midst of the picturesque lakes and plains of the Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel National Park, in the easternmost province of Austria, Burgenland. The winery has been run as a family winery for many years. The wines are known for their softness and warmth, typical characteristics of the Seewinkel. They reflect the tranquility and vastness of the plain.
Illmitz is located on the eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl and, at 117 meters above sea level, is the lowest-lying town in Austria. A high number of sunny days, endless expanses and a diverse nature are characteristic of this area, which is called Seewinkel.
The unique climate in the Seewinkel - characterized by dry, hot summers and cold winters - the influence of the Pannonian lowlands and Lake Neusiedl as well as the many small salt lakes ensure a very special terroir, giving the wines elegance, freshness and a salty minerality.
