The winery on the Nile was founded in 2010 and has been producing top-quality Rieslings ever since. Before that, the Schuster family had managed the property since 1841. The Schusters used the Palatinate and Kallstadt lion as a symbol for their wines and placed it on the label. Since tradition obliges, the Nile also adopted the lion's head on its label and it has always stood for expressiveness and dynamism.
The large Saumagen and Herrenberg sites in particular are characterized by their unique terroir. In Saumagen, the winery owns the lion's share with 3.5 hectares. Since the plot bears the name "Nil", the winery has made the name its own. The winery currently cultivates around 26 hectares of vineyards in and around Kallstadt.
