A perfect Nebbiolo from Antinori's Piedmontese winery Prunotto!

The powerful Occhetti Nebbiolo Langhe from Italy is a varietal wine made from the Nebbiolo grape variety. In Piedmont, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of sand, limestone, clay, gravel and marl. Without question, the Occhetti Nebbiolo Langhe is also determined by the climate and Langhe DOC viticulture style. This Italian can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, which presents itself as extraordinarily distinguished. The fact that the Nebbiolo grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate also has an influence on the ripening of the grapes that cannot be denied. This is expressed, among other things, in particularly long and even grapes and a rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. When they are perfectly ripe, the grapes for the Occhetti Nebbiolo Langhe are harvested exclusively by hand, without the help of rough and less selective harvesters.

Nose: This varietal Italian wine flatters the glass with wonderfully elegant notes of lilies, blueberries, mulberries and blackberries. There are also hints of cocoa beans, cinnamon and vanilla.
Taste: The Prunotto Occhetti Nebbiolo Langhe presents itself to wine lovers as wonderfully dry. This red wine is never coarse or sparse, as one can expect from a top-class wine range. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully silky and melty. In the finish, this red wine from the Piedmont wine region, which can be stored well, inspires with its considerable length. Again there are hints of lilac and blackberry. Mineral notes from the soil, which is dominated by marl and gravel, join in the aftertaste.
Expansion: After the harvest, the grapes are immediately transported to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully ground. This is followed by fermentation in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging in oak barrels for 18 months.
